MS Pipes vs GI Pipes: Which One Should You Choose?

Mild steel (MS) and galvanized iron (GI) pipes look similar, but they serve different purposes. Choosing the right one saves cost and avoids early failure.
What is an MS pipe?
MS pipes are made from low-carbon steel. They are strong, easy to weld and cost-effective, making them popular for structural work, fabrication, fire-fighting lines and general industrial piping.
What is a GI pipe?
GI pipes are steel pipes coated with a layer of zinc. The coating protects against rust, which makes GI the preferred choice for water supply, plumbing and outdoor utility lines.
Which should you buy?
Choose MS for fabrication, structures and lines that will be painted or protected. Choose GI where the pipe carries water or is exposed to moisture. Share your application with us and we will suggest the right class and size.
